Locals of Palisades Tahoe prioritize an active lifestyle, they take advantage of several sporting options throughout the year.  Winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are ideal, given that Palisades Tahoe has over 3,600 acres of skiable terrain and 170 trails.  Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are also available in Olympic Valley.  During the summer months residents can hike all around scenic Palisades Tahoe, and ride bikes on the paved bike path that goes through the valley, and along the Truckee River.  Locals often make a short drive to Lake Tahoe to go boating, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing. 

All kinds of people reside in Palisades Tahoe, from retirees to families with young children. Palisades Tahoe is relatively quiet and tranquil, but also has many seasonal options for vibrant nightlife and community activities. There are summer camps and skiing lessons for young children as well as wine nights and happy hours for adults. Overall, there is something for everyone in the family.
 

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

The dining options in Olympic Valley are incredible. Six Peaks Grille is located in The Resort at Squaw Creek, so guests have spectacular views of Olympic Valley. They can enjoy innovative American cuisine from inside the cozy dining room or on the patio around the large fire pit. Another ideal spot for fine dining is PlumpJack Cafe and Bar. PlumpJack Cafe and Bar offers delicious Californian wines in a rustic, outdoorsy environment. Both of these options are perfect for romantic date nights or special occasions.

In addition, locals love Uncorked Wine Bar & Wine Shop for a glass of local Californian wine and eclectic charcuterie boards. This is a great spot to grab a quick drink and bite to eat with friends while still being in an upscale setting. 

For a day full of high-end shopping, residents love going to The Village at Palisades Tahoe, a resort with dozens of shops to explore. The Village at Palisades Tahoe is a wonderful place to stroll through different boutiques, name-brand stores, and art galleries. 
 

Things to Do

There are so many things to do when living or vacationing in Palisades Tahoe. Some of the best activities are the local community events that Palisades Tahoe holds each year. Bluesdays Tuesdays and SunSets Live Music Series last all summer long, allowing locals to enjoy free live shows every Tuesday and Saturday from June to August. Palisades Tahoe also hosts Freedom Fest every Fourth of July. The event includes live music, fireworks, children’s activities, and delicious cookout cuisine. 

Locals enjoy doing their favorite winter activity when they ski at the Alpine Meadows side at Palisades Tahoe. This two mountain resort is voted one of America’s top 100 and has one of the longest ski seasons in the country. Also, the Olympic Museum, located at Highcamp on The Palisades side, features the 1960s Olympics memorabilia, which was held in Olympic Valley. This is an amazing place to explore the cultural history of the area and learn more about the trails used in the 1960 Winter Olympics.
